Caring for your shirt

As with any piece in your wardrobe, always begin by checking the care label for washing and ironing instructions.

For light stains, moisten the affected area with sparkling water and let it sit for around 30 minutes. Then wash the garment as usual. You can also use dry stain-removal salt for added effectiveness.

Removing Sweat Marks

To treat underarm stains, prepare a paste using one part baking soda to two parts water. Apply it directly to the stain and gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Wash the shirt as normal, using a delicate cycle.

Ironing a shirt properly

For a flawless finish, make sure the shirt is slightly damp. If dry, use a water spray to moisten the fabric. Adjust your iron to the appropriate setting depending on the fabric (cotton, linen, or synthetics). Start with the collar, ironing from the outside in. Move on to the sleeves, then the body of the shirt. Follow the seam lines to avoid creating new creases. Use the tip of the iron to finesse details like pockets. Once ironed, hang the shirt immediately on a hanger to preserve its shape.

Note: Ironing is always faster and more effective when the fabric is slightly damp. A steam generator iron is ideal, though a manual spray bottle works just as well.

Brightening the ollar

To restore brightness to a tired collar, soak it in a solution of warm water and lemon juice or white vinegar, both natural whitening agents. Leave it for 15 minutes, gently brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and let it air dry.
